A self-initiated spec shoot for Houdini Sportswear, made on the island of Pag in Croatia, on the white limestone of the Life on Mars trail, with Val Mandic.

Houdini shows Val in mountains: beautiful, competent, cold. I wanted to show someone who is somewhere else entirely. The landscape looks like another planet, and the person in it reflects that. Not conquering it, not performing for it, just present.

The shoot follows three acts. Arrival at golden hour, with long shadows and warm light on cold rock. Presence in the deep gold, when the figure stops moving and simply exists in the space. Then disappearance in blue hour, when the light goes cold and the figure becomes a silhouette, almost part of the landscape. The clothing holds its colour while everything around it drains to grey.

The project is about what a landscape does to the person standing in it.
